Feeling weary Mama?

Do you ever wake-up feeling weary? Ever feel like you are ten steps behind before you even begin the day? Where will you possibly find the energy or motivation to tackle today when you are still tired from yesterday? I face this predicament at least once a week and typically on a Tuesday.

Tuesdays follow Mondays and on Monday I homeschool, take care of my three littles, nanny for a friend’s little boy, and then turn around and work a nursing shift. All of these things I love, but all take energy. I typically roll out of work late on Monday night and get to bed sometime shy of midnight. When I wake-up on Tuesday morning, I am usually feeling weary

Weary to the bone some days. 

But the alarm clock goes off and kids need fed and organized for activities, more homeschooling awaits, the house needs picked up, and the chores need done… the list goes on.

But, I’m tired. So very tired

Where do I start? 

As I make my way downstairs, I hear the kid’s requests for breakfast, and I glance at the dirty table where they have attempted to make their own breakfast. I sigh, reach for a hot cup of tea, and simply grab this. 

It starts here. If I’m to gain strength to do this day well, it all starts with my perspective, and frankly, my perspective needs some adjusting. 

“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:16-19

Yes and amen, may we be filled through the Holy Spirit to love our kids well today, and not get caught up in the things that don’t matter like clean rooms and perfect order. Instead, let us focus on loving them well and leading them to Jesus. We certainly have the strength for that today, and in all honesty, that is all He has asked us to do.

I wish I could tell you that I gain a pep in my step and start jazzercising across the room making this the best day ever! That just doesn’t always happen, but in the quiet of my soul, I am reminded of the purpose of this day and it changes me. This change gives me the pep in my soul to press into the Holy Spirit and gain from His strength all that I can never do on my own.

I am keeping my eyes in focus today. I will choose to direct my attention less on this…

Let’s change the direction of our camera lens, looking first to Jesus and then to the little souls He has entrusted to us.
